A postcard from Egypt

Barry is a very kind old Jewish man. He is a voluntary ESL tutor in the Queens library. In the ESL center in the library, many new emigrants and some old people come to learn English. Some retired people just like Barry teach them by free. Barry is intelligent and active. He always treats every student friendly. Since he has many Chinese students, he starts to learn Chinese and is slowly familiar with some Chinese traditions and customs. Every year, when Chinese New Year comes, he hosts Chinese students a New Year party in his house. He even gives young students red envelopes in which contain a few dollars as lucky money.

My wife knew Barry two years ago when she studied with him in the public library. Before I come to New York, he asked my wife many times about me. I was looking forward to meeting him for a long time. Finally, I met him when I arrived to New York City a few days later. That was an afternoon, after his class, we went to a Chinese bakery to drink coffee and chat. Barry told us that he and his wife were going to visit Egypt, and the pyramids, of course. When he knew that we are very interested in the Egypt culture. He very kindly told us that he would send a postcard to us from Egypt. I forgot this promise quickly. But this evening I received a beautiful postcard from Egypt. Barry did send us a postcard! How nice he is! I decided that when he comes back NY, I will treat him a cup of coffer in Starbucks rather than a Chinese bakery.
